As you all know I am a huge fan of Ross Hamilton's photography and Gordon Hempton's nature recordings. Well I was so inspired by these two that I decided to create a few square inches of silence in my own home. These little pieces of nature help me to feel more nurtured and calm as I go through my day. I find I look forward to sitting down at my computer with my nature sounds playing in the background. Or the windows open so I can hear the birds outside, while enjoying the beautiful nature filled corner of my desk.
I created a little space in my bathroom as well. I plan to create a little peaceful space in each of the rooms in my home. My intention is to create peaceful, calm, nature inspired energy throughout my dwelling. No matter what room I'm in I will have a sacred representation to quiet my mind, which will quiet my body and spirit.
Nature is a great way to ground yourself when you are stressed. This is such a cheap way to bring a little beauty and peace into your home. I also find that where I have these little peaceful spots, I tend to keep them cleaner and clutter free because I don't want their energy to be disturbed. I now look forward to sitting at the computer or even going to the bathroom, just so I can look at my little works art.
In the kitchen I spend lots of time working on dishes, cleaning counters and meal prep sometimes I feel like I spend most of my day in front of the sink. So I placed some pretty pictures in the corners to help me enjoy my time there more. I need to find the right low light plants to go with them.
These pictures are from Ross Hamilton's Note Card collection. They are 5X7 and the perfect size for just a bit of loveliness in a small space. I bought the frames at my local Dollar Tree, the plants came from Stop & Shop and were about $5, the rocks were free!
If you have any inspiring ideas or pictures of a peaceful space that you have created, please share.

I like these serene spaces. I could use a couple in my office and home. I love the frugal nature of your designs and notecards are a great thing to frame.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful bit of inspriration this Thursday!!!
Thanks Rachel, I love finding creative ways to do things that involve little cost. I forgot to mention the note cards are an 8 pack for $9.95. These small quiet spaces really do add peace to a room.
DeleteI love it, how very Feng Shui as well! Seems like a great way to soften the sharp corners of your home and having plants in your home is great for inner air quality too! I have a great low light plant that has been with me for 7 yrs now, he needs to be pruned so i'll repot some cuttings for you!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the free plants, I love them!
