Sleep, Who Needs It?

The ladies and I Kik (an app that allows multi person texting) daily about the humerous and not so humerous things going on in our daily lives.  We have often said that our Kiks are great material for a sitcom. We agree that sometimes it takes a little while before you can look back upon an incident and laugh about it.  But since viewing my life through the eyes of someone who might be watching my sitcom unfold, I have learned to laugh at said incidents some what quicker.  You know....it's funny when it's happening to someone else.

I recall an incident a few years ago, when my kids were probably two and five.  I was so sleep deprived as neither one slept through the night.  I layed down with my five year old daughter to get her to sleep, thinking as soon as she's out I'm going to my room.  I fought the sleep that was trying to take over just so I could get to my own bed.  Finally I made it there.

Somewhere around midnight my daughter woke up and yelled for me.  This was it, I knew I would be in her room the rest of the night.  So I decided to stop off in the bathroom, only to discover I had just started my period.  "Just a minute" I told her and ran downstairs to change.  My clothes were in my closet downstairs, long story.  So now I'm all cleaned up and ready for some rest.  I snuggled in and got comfy.  Only to be woken about an hour and a half later when my daughter wet the bed and peed all over me.

So...now I'm changing the sheets, changing my daughter and changing myself yet again.  Sigh....back to bed, I'm sure I can get some sleep now because what else could possibly happen.  One word of advice NEVER ask that question, you really DON'T want to know.

I manage to drift in and out of sleep for a bit, but soon grow tired of my daughter's kicking, hitting and talking in her sleep.  Since my husband was in bed with my two year old son I decided I would curl up in my bed bed all by myself.  So I dive in and pull the covers up over my head with great enthusiasm.  Only to discover that while I was in with my daughter, the dog threw up on my blankets! Yup, now I have dog puke in my hair and on my face. So tired I'm about to cry, I honestly for a moment considered sleeping that way.

But since it was already 3:00 in the morning and I had had enough of the night anyway, I decided to get an early jump on the day.  Starting with a nice hot shower!

If you have any great "mommy moments" please share.  A good sense of humor is the only way to survive this sort of thing LOL!

  4. LOL. Being a mom has it's challenges for sure. I was watching the movie "I don't know how she does it" with Sarah Jessica Parker and I totally can relate in the sense that as a mom, you're constantly going and have no real "breaks". Isn't it so true that "Aunt Flow" always likes to visit at the most inopportune times? Funny story :)
