What feels like so long ago we laughed, cried and shared umpteen opinions of some 2600 pages that make up the Twilight Saga, it brought us closer, kept us up later and ultimately brought us deeper in love with books.
Since those halcyon Twilight days we've read several other YA novels, most recently the Wolves of Mercy Falls series by the clever and cool Maggie Stiefvater. Christine recently asked me what's next? I have been hard pressed to come up with a book for all of us to enjoy, hopefully lending itself to being well suited to the carefree and tranquil days of summer. The best I could do was stick with good 'ole Maggie and suggest The Scorpio Races. But us ladies like a good series that we can really get into, any suggestions?
As the calendar days reach the official start of summer I know we'll find just the book, but in the meantime here are some of the books I'll be enjoying on my own this summer, hopefully as I laze at the beach:
- Finding your Way in a Wild World- Martha Beck
- A Lamp in the Darkness - Jack Kornfield
- Spork-Fed: Super Fun and Flavorful Recipes from the Sisters of Spork Foods - Jenny Engel and Heather Goldberg
- Joy The Baker Cookbook - Joy Wilson
- The Hobbit - J.R.R. Tolkien (with my kids)
- The Geography of Bliss - Eric Weiner (reread for writing project)
- The Happiness Project - Gretchen Ruben (ditto)
- The Spark - by me...rereading/editing
- And...
P.S. Speaking of writing- an article I wrote on Greening your feminine care routine was featured on health crusader and unicorn lover Kris Carr's website: Crazy, Sexy, Life. Click here to read!
What are you planning on reading this summer? Please share suggestions!
