 Happy Independence Day!!

It's time for our second Book Worm Wednesday Blog Hop. This hop will be open today through Sunday, July 8th, so link away!

In the spirit of Independence, please feel FREE to link up any book related posts (family friendly of course) but if you'd like to go a step further and link up a post related to this month's sub-theme,
go for it!

Our sub-theme for July is:
Guilty Pleasures and/or Beach Reads

Please post our badge (code below) with your post and visit/follow a few of the other folks who link up. Share the bloggy love!! :) The linky is also found at the bottom of this post. Happy hopping!

Now for my Guilty Pleasures and Beach Read picks:

I LOVE to read and learn new things, which means that often my book pile is at least half full of non-fiction, but when I want to sink my teeth into a nice piece of fiction--especially during the summer months--I find myself turning to the light, easily digestible melodrama of
Young Adult Fiction.

1. Forever (book 3 in the Wolves of Mercy Falls series), by Maggie Stiefvater
I love, love, love Stiefvater's writing style. This series is smart, sexy, haunting, and filled with longing. It keeps you riveted! I can't seem to get to bed each night without checking in on Sam and Grace.

2. The Long Walk (a short novel as part of The Bachman Books), by Stephen King
I've been told that I may enjoy The Long Walk based on my adoration of The Hunger Games trilogy. Can't wait!

3. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, by Betty Smith
As far as Young Adult lit goes, this one is a beloved classic and I have always wanted to read it.

As for beach reads, I often bring a book along...but more often than not I end up turning to the magazines that I've plopped into my beach bag. While I do subscribe to a few great mags (Yoga Journal, Organic Gardening, and Martha Stewart Living) I long ago stopped spending money at the news stand...instead, I have a bit of an obsession with raiding my library's free magazine basket in the entry way. I discard plenty of my own mags there, but often find myself coming home with far more magazines than I have time to read. The entertainment news is a bit of "old news" by the time I get my hands on it, but it's still delicious to me.

Ok, so now it's your turn...
What's your reading guilty pleasure? What reading material will be in your beach bag?

Sinking my teeth in,
Tamar

  1. Hi there, don't know why but the link doesn't seem to be working. I posted your hop badge on my blog and so I can't figure it out. I'm Leslie @ Gwen Moss blog.

    1. Hi Leslie,

Thanks for trying! In addition to placing my badge on your page you need to add your URL to the link box (below where the badge code is) It's kind of small so you may have missed it, but there is a form that says "submit link." I hope you'll try again and I hope it works! If not please send me your link at LadiesHoliday(at)gmail(dot)com and I will try to link it for you.

      Thanks again!!

  2. That is too funny you have a People magazine with Giuliana Rancic on the cover, because I was just barely typing up a post of a recipe she shared of her Mom's and saying how I love People magazine.

  3. The link I posted was inspired by Independence Day (of course) and a book I am reading titled "Indivisible". Thanks for hosting.

  4. Do you have an option for your button to be a bit smaller? It's falling off my page and it has some funny text below it.

    1. I think if you click on the image of my button once it is in your post (in edit format), a little box should appear with the option to choose "small, medium, or large" feel free to delete any funny text that is around it. This was my first time making a button, sorry for the difficulties! If it doesn't work, then no worries, but if you could just link back to my hop post that would be fabulous. Thanks again for hopping!!
