Dog Days of Summer

It's been a "scorcha" as some here on the East coast might pronounce it, but we've been finding ways to keep busy and cool nonetheless. Like many families out there, we haven't had the $$ for vacations or summer camps, but we've taken full advantage of  FREE scouting events, FREE local library programs, FREE state parks/nature trails, and loads of FREE home-made fun right in our own backyard or neighborhood. Notice how much I appreciate the word FREE. ;) The zoo wasn't technically free, but since we bought a family pass for ourselves this past Christmas and can now go whenever we want to, it feels free!

Below is a little snapshot of just a few things my kiddos and I have been up to during our Dog Days of Summer.

What have you been doing? We'd love to hear about your fun, creative, and free summer doings!

  1. What a great collage; and those are the simple pleasures that kids love and remember. Funny how that works. And the watermelon drink looks so yummy. I've been meaning to try that.
