How Ladies Holiday came to be... Christine, Deirdre, Seana and Tamar were friends of various configurations when we came together to form a book club. The first title was Stephanie Meyer’s Breaking Dawn. In hindsight, how apropos that a book filled with so much blood could serve to congeal strong friendships and ultimately inspire a blog about menstruating.
(*Update: over time Ladies Holiday has evolved from solely concentrating on topics related to women's health to an umbrella source for "women's lifestyle" now including motherhood and relationships, food and the home, personal growth and more.)
During our book discussion time an idea for a sitcom began to take shape. It would be an all-out laugh and cry fest highlighting the triumphs, challenges and hilariousness that accompanies us ladies during our holiday. It would be called, “Ladies Holiday” and air on NBC or CBS on Monday nights. We laughed until we cried over episode plots and thought we were really onto something. It was then the idea for a blog came up, why not channel all these ideas into a forum where readers can relate in real time, now, not whenever a big-shot TV exec comes along and offers us a deal that can send our kids to college (a collective 13.) By the way, TV exec we’re ready when you are! And so the Ladies Holiday Blog was born.
Our intent is to create quality articles, reviews and more that readers can relate to and learn from. We won’t pretend to have all the answers, but encourage you to join us on this journey as we try to find a few and learn and grow along the way.
What you’ll find each week:
Monday- In the Mix Monday: Women's Health including our roots in menstruation.
Friday- Photo-Friday: They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but on Fridays we will keep it simple. The idea is to inspire thought and reflection through an image. *with an occasional deviation.
